PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES 2009-PRESENT
- Facilitated presentation by STOP RAPE CRISIS CENTER to entire student population at Glasgow Middle School (650 students). Organized event, solicited and trained community volunteers, provided oversight to volunteers who facilitated group round table discussions according to the Kettering Model; follow up provided as needed once information from T.R.U.S.T. program was processed and integrated.
- Facilitated presentation by BATTERED WOMEN’s SHELTER to entire student population at Glasgow Middle School (650 Students). Organized event, solicited volunteers, trained volunteers, organized round table discussions for students with volunteer facilitators who used Kettering Model to further integrate information provided. Ensured follow up as needed.
- Built partnerships and collaborations amongst business, school, and community to provide HEALTHY SNACKS program at Glasgow Middle School 2013-2014 school year. Collected, organized and distributed one healthy snack and one bottle of water to each student on each of four days during the 10 minute break of the 4 hour LEAP testing period so as to re-nourish the body and brain and potentially support higher scores and passing grades.
- Facilitated the sponsorship by NIKE of a boys’ social skills group ( 6 members) with Nike providing one complete sport specific outfit to each boy, including the shoes, cap, and clothing for soccer, or basketball, or football. Ensured that a letter of gratitude was written.
- Facilitated collaboration of services to support the introduction of the EAGALA Model of Equine Psychotherapy to a select group of students at Glasgow for individual equine sessions. Also facilitated the introduction of “the horse” to a special needs class of children.
- Built partnerships and facilitated the adoption of Glasgow Middle School by City Citrus, an npo under the auspices of Baton Rouge Green, to support selection, planting, and maintenance of citrus trees on campus, with fundraising efforts by students to support implementation of program.
- MindUP! Responsible for the research, marketing, adoption, funding, and implementation of the MindUP! mindfulness, deep breathing, and social consciousness program for the entire Glasgow Middle School. Secured two full Professional Development Day seminars for entire teacher staff and administration; secured funding for and deliver of MindUP! books and Zynergy chimes for each teacher.
